ABOUT THIS BOOK
Today's philosophy of tolerance for all it's viewpoints, that no one is declared incorrect, that the same God is everyone's god, has no place in this vital letter. Paul tells his young friend Titus, "Encourage and rebuke with all authority." People are 'to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient.' Salvation and the believer's lifestyle are never the result of good works or any other human merit system. The overwhelming thrust is God's mercy and grace, for it (He) is our teacher and our life. John Calvert trained for the ministry in the Baptist Theological College of N.S.W. (Morling College). He has a Masters degree from Pacific College and is reading for a doctorate in Biblical Studies. He is married to Jenny, and with their three sons live in Adelaide. He has pastored Baptist Churches in N.S.W. and S.A. and lectured at the S.A. Baptist Theological College of S.A. and the House of tabor, in Homiletics, and theology. Overseas preaching has taken him to the U.S.A., Japan, South Korea and Singapore His interests include music, sport, reading and of course, writing. |
