Bishop
Jens Christensen
Jens Christensen (1899 - 1966),
a theologian of great calibre. A Lutheran Bishop and Pastor, he
was a man who worked most of his life amongst Muslims. Few have
loved and understood the Muslim as he did. Bishop Christensen spent
a lifetime working among Muslim Pathans in the North West Frontier
Province of Pakistan. He was probably closer to Pathans both in
their thinking and in the use of their language, Pushto, than any
other westerner.

Lord Morley, Chancellor of the
University of Manchester, dubbed Forsyth 'One of the most brilliant
minds of Europe'. In 1962 Emil Brunner, when invited in a television
interview to say who was the greatest of British theologians, named
P.T. Forsyth. Likewise Karl Barth spoke
in warm terms about Forsyth's work, while J.K. Mozley
stated that 'Forsyth was perhaps English Christianity's most powerful
